California Driving Permit Requirements
1. Complete Driver's Education Course.
Course can be taken online from an approved
driver education program, such as ExpertDriving.net.
2. Pass the 46 question permit test
This is the traffic law and sign test. A passing score is at least 38 correct answers. You
have three chances to pass the test. If you fail, you must wait 7 days before taking it again.
3. You must be at least 15 1/2 years old.
DMV's application directions and requirements
4. Complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
Training must be taken from an approved
driver education program, such as ExpertDriving.net.
